Lakeysha Paulette Betts was born on January 13th 1981 in Huntington Station, NY to Paul and Michelle Betts.
Lakeysha, also known as Keysha, was the second of three children. She has an older sister Shakima Betts, and a younger brother Eric Whitfield who preceded her in passing.
Keysha graduated from William Floyd High School and went on to further her education at Branford Hall, where she earned an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting. Keysha worked as a bus driver but her passion was running her own homegrown cake baking business called K-Loves Kreations. Keysha enjoyed the challenge of creating elaborately designed baked goods that were not only beautiful but delicious.
Keysha is the loving and devoted mother of four beautiful children: Keyshawn Peacock who preceded her in passing in 2002, Mekhi Peacock 17, Jaydon Peacock 14, and Keyara Peacock 11 whom she co-parented with her high school sweetheart Anthony Peacock.
Keysha’s children meant the world to her. She attended all of their parent teacher conferences, basketball games, football games, boxing matches, track meets as well as The Butterfly Effect group meetings.
To know Keysha is to love her. She had a smile that would light up a room, and she was always the life of the party. Keysha loved to listen to music, bake, and most of all she loved to travel.
Keysha leaves behind to cherish her memories: her parents Paul and Michelle Betts, her step-mother Veronica Washington, her grandmother Alice Dunlap, her children’s paternal grandmother Ruth Durham, her sister Shakima Betts, her children Mekhi, Jaydon, and Keyara Peacock, her nephew Amari Micken, her God-daughter Selena Durham, her significant other Lester Langhorne, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family thanks all that shared in her life. Keysha, we love you and you will truly be missed.
